Iconic British luxury fashion house Burberry is more than just famous for its trench coats and plaid purses – they are also known for their innovative cosmetics and beauty products.
I was very fortunate to be sent complementary full size products from Burberry for my honest thoughts on their new fresh glow Burberry Essentials collection.
My first thoughts were about the gorgeous packaging. The cardboard box my package arrived in was lined with gold and the actual product box was embossed with Burberry’s golden logo. Inside the box was product descriptions and photos, three products, and a natural hair brush.
The cards have beautiful photos and great tips on how to use the products.
Product 1: Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base – Golden Radiance No.02
Product 2: Fresh Glow Highlighter – Rose Gold No.04
Product 3: Fresh Glow Highlighting Luminous Pen – Nude Radiance No.01
Product 1: Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base – Golden Radiance No.02
Product 1: I was a little surprised when I saw how dark this product was. I have fair skin, so this was a lot darker than anything I would normally buy. Described as a “universal” colour, the product is fairly sheer and lightly shimmery.
I wasn’t sure how to use this product, so I had a makeover by a Burberry rep at Nordstrom. She was was surprised that I was given the dark colour, but mixed it with foundation to give me an all over “sunkissed glow”. I liked how lightweight it was on my skin. I suffer from an oily complexion, but did not find that this made my skin even oilier.
I personally found that it was too dark for my skin tone, but I could see myself using this if I get a bit of a tan or for contouring purposes. I plan on trying the lighter base in the future.
Product 2: Fresh Glow Highlighter – Rose Gold No.04
Product 2: This powder was almost too pretty to use! A compressed powder with a gorgeous design, this highlighter was a flirty shimmery rose gold colour, true to its name. For light highlighting, it is advised to use this product dry, but for a more dramatic look, wet your makeup sponge before applying.
I found that this went on VERY sheer, so I needed to apply multiple layers of product. While that means that there is a possibility of using up the product more quickly, I did like the flexibility of having a subtle glow vs something more glam. I actually used this on top of Product 3 (highlighting pen) when I wanted a more dramatic look. Overall, I liked this product and would probably purchase it again.
Product 3: Fresh Glow Highlighting Luminous Pen – Nude Radiance No.01
Product 3: The highlighting pen was my favourite product out of them all! It was the easiest to apply and the most versatile. A creamy texture with a light shimmer, this could be applied at the inner corner of the eyes, under the eyebrow arch, on the cheekbones, nose, and cupid’s bow. I found it is very long lasting (even all day in summer heat without melting off my face) and works wonderfully as a base for the highlighting powder. A little bit of product goes a long way with this one and I think it would actually be a good value for your money. I already plan on purchasing this again!
All in all, the Burberry Essentials were lovely. I did enjoy all the products, especially the powder and the pen. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to treat themselves or their loved ones to quality highlighting products.
It was actually my first time trying Burberry cosmetics, other than perfume, so I also used this as a bit of a learning experience! I mentioned earlier that I had a makeover with a Burberry rep and had the opportunity to try out many different products. I plan on writing a separate review for those, in particular the ones that I purchased. Below are a couple of photos of my glowing look!
